I don't have to worry about taking up double the space when I upgrade packages (forced by Xandros), the packages are fairly up-to-date and very stable, there's seemingly a much greater variety of software because of all the repositories, and it's a cinch to heavily customise (if one likes to tinker). It's free, and it took me less than 2 hours to create the bootable USB key, try the live system, install the OS, set up the repositories, and do a full update.
