Erol,

This answer comes many, many moons late.

You need 2 patches to get your usb modem working. These patches are available in the form of 'pet' packages on the puppy linux forum. Just google / search at the puppy forum for the "usb modeswitch" and '3G wireless' pets. Install both packages, save, reboot puppy and you should be on your way. Only the puppy 4.1 and 4.2 series require these patches.

If you are using jemimah's latest puppeee 4.3x or the official puppy 4.3 series, the patches have been incorporated into the base OS, so no additional patches required. To access internet, go to menu, pupdial, insert your ISP's APN, insert password, click connect.

FYI, I am answering this post using teenpup mini 2010 (based off puppy 4.21) on an eee pc 701 - I should know what I am talking abt!!

Cheerio,

Tai

puppeee is customized for the Asus eee netbook series, so if you're not running one of those it probably hasn't got the drivers you need for things like the wireless networking. I believe you should e looking either at Puppy or Fluppy for a general-purpose or non-Asus PC.

Erol,
You need Eeebuntu!
Can be downloaded from eeebuntu.org and had my 3G-modem up and running in a few moments. It was much easier than on Win XP.

Hi, I've downloaded Puppeee Linux and burned onto cd. I booted-up no problem, and had a great experience using this Linux distro.

By the way, I am completely new to Linux, but wish to jump over to it from Windows XP completely.

Anyway, I tried to access the internet, and just like with all other Linux distro's, have been unable to get my USB modem to work so I can access the internet.

I found Puppeee much easier to use and tried so many things to get the modem working in it, but to no avail.

I have an ASUS Eee PC, and I currently access the internet via Orange Broadband. The modem that I have is a USB Modem, the dondle/dongle kind. It is the Option 225 model.

How do I get this running with any distro of Linux, but mainly with Puppeee?

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope that you can help me.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards, Erol.
