Running Windows 7 on your Eee PC and confused at all the changes Microsoft put in the operating system? Yeah, I know the last operating system you used was Windows XP (and you actually tried out that Linux sorcery for a couple of days, but you couldn’t figure out what the heck a “terminal” meant) and you don’t like all this fancy eye candy Bill Gates put into your computer. You’d want your computer to be less confusing, thank you very much.
Maybe this might interest you then. It’s a little secret for Windows 7 users, called “GodMode” it’s basically a folder where all system configuration shortcuts are contained. Yes, it even beats Control Panel, believe it or not. It’s a bit overwhelming to figure out, and I’m using it now on my Windows 7 machine and I don’t understand half of what’s in that folder. But I like having one easy shortcut to control EVERYTHING on my computer. Online contests like a web design contest, will not only help you gain monetary benefits and instant fame, they will also help boost up your confidence & sharpen your (web) skills. Many upcoming websites come up with such events to promote themselves and generate a user database, though it is recommended that one checks the genuine nature of the contest and its organizer(s).
Before beginning over your masterpiece, do read the terms and conditions of the web design contest carefully. It might happen that the event is restricted to a certain region or group of people (e.g. contest for amateurs). Make a note of the technical specifications like the technologies that can be employed, the maximum size of the website, the theme (if any) and so on. Most of the events will allow the use of images ‘borrowed’ from the Internet. Do keep a tab of the deadlines. Use a universal scheme of arranging the folders for the source files. Do not keep unused files or folders within the archive which you propose to send over to the panel. The only file which remains outside should be the index.html file which will provide an entrance to your website. Try not to fool the panel by using ready to use templates and snippets – there might be smarter guys out there. Once you are done with the execution, check for any execution related errors and debug them immediately. Once you have sent ahead your artwork, intimate the organizers about the same and get the confirmation of the receipt.

I’ve been using the Eee PC 701 for almost two years now, and it’s been pretty neat. It’s super portable, and the Windows XP installation has been pretty good to me.
Well, until recently. Sometime after Mozilla rolled out Firefox 3.5, I’ve been getting nothing but constant crashes out of my Eee PC. Switching to Chrome and later Opera helped a bit, but I’ve pretty much lost the ability to multitask. Imagine: I’m doing an article on my Eee PC and I have my IM programs running on my Nokia E63; sometimes I even torrent via my phone.
So I defragged, ran an antispyware and virus scan, and removed a lot of crap from the registry, and somehow XP seems to have stabilized. Still can’t get Firefox to work, though. I might downgrade to FF 2.5. I’m sticking with XP prolly for an extra week or two, but the moment I get another major crash as I write in My Asus Eee PC, I’m switching asap to Crunchbang Lite.
What do you guys think? Do you have any other OS recommendations?
Okay, I’ve said time and again that I am not impressed with Google’s Chrome OS, but I guess I need to try it out hands-on before I pass my final judgment on the new Linux distro.
Fortunately, TechCrunch has created a guide to install Google Chrome OS on your Eee PC. Well, actually, it’s not a real installation because it requires a virtual machine. I don’t think there’s actually a way to run and install the OS like any other traditional Linux distro, and because of the cloud nature of Chrome OS, I don’t even think we should even attempt installing it. Continue Learning
Web designing also have coding conventions and syntaxes that are changing as time goes by. Keep yourself updated with the recommended syntaxes and coding conventions and learn to forget about the ones that are now obsolete or deprecated. This will allow you to have a modern standard to follow when you design websites.

Using any kind of laptop means you’ll have to take care of it to keep it in a good condition, and this often extends beyond wiping it with a rag every now and then – in order to maintain your netbook in an optimal condition, there are various procedures you could apply, say, every month, to get the best results
For example, a common problem with these devices is the accumulation of dust – what’s worse is that it can build up on the inside as well. It may not be noticeable in the beginning, but if you notice your netbook overheating a lot more commonly than it used to, maybe it’s time to undo those screws and clean the dust from around the fan.
Never take out the fan itself though – damaging it could cost you dearly as it’s sometimes difficult to replace. Don’t even think about doing something like oiling it – this will never end well. Just blow all the dust from around it and close the netbook. The more experienced among you may find it a good idea to replace the thermal paste on the heatsink every now and then, but unless you really know what you’re doing don’t go for that.
Also, consider how you’re using the netbook as well – if its fan hole is on the bottom, never lay it flat on a soft surface, like your bed. This would suffocate it and prevent it from cooling properly, degrading the quality of its cooling in the long run.
