Hey,

The slow speed of this Eee Pc 1101HA is just getting on my nerves. I have done the overclocking to 30% but there is no change to 1.7Mhz or even any noticed significant change in the speed. I feel so disappointed with this performance, long life battery is not just a problem but speed counts so much. How do i get the required performance after overclocking? Won't i see it show 1.7mhz or even have it operate at that speed after overclocking?

Hello Compsci
What brand 2gb memory module did you put in your 1101HA? I have had experience before in fitting after market RAM, and I know it has to be just right to work correctly.
thanks

I purchased this netbook, it ran great. I popped the 1GB dimm out and replaced it with a 2GB and now its even better.
I highly suggest this netbook.

The only issue is getting the GMA500 graphics to work within linux is a bit tricky. But, for the average user who is going to run Windows XP on it, this is a real dream of a netbook. I still suggest upping the ram to 2gb though, which can be done for around $50 since DDR2 is so cheap these days.

I would suggest everyone to go with Asus Eee PC 1101ha netbook because it is 11.6-inch mini laptop, according to manufacturer it has the latest mobile hardware so pleasant that gets you started with all possible applications. You enjoy up to 8.5 hours working on one battery charge. So you can use a single charge one whole day or a long journey ahead. With its wireless connectivity it is simply to stay in touch with friends and family, colleagues or classmates. Because Simplicity is still with a capital E central to the Asus Eee PC 1101HA. Check out for more details http://www.techarena.in/review/16740-asus-eee-pc-1101ha.htm

Hope, put simply, overclocking is a method of increasing the performance of your processor beyond it's standard configuration. Some processors are much more easily overclocked than others and the ZA520 that the 1101ha uses just happens to be one of them. Basically if you decide to overclock you will get roughly the same processor speed as a Z series Atom at the cost of power efficiency. The SD card is removable storage to compliment the internal Hard Drive.

Can I ask you a question in return? I am considering buying this netbook. How speedy is it without the overclock? I don't really need a lot of performance and I like the idea of the huge battery life. Is it enough to get by doing basic tasks like web browsing and watching low-def video etc.?

My husband just purchased the 1101ha for me. I've been researching this netbook after the fact. I've heard you all talk of over(c)locking. First, is it overlocking or overclocking? I would appreciate knowing what that is and how and when to use it... or even if I should. I want to make the most of this gift and would appreciate a few pointers.

Mine is running XP. I have been quite pleased with the 1101 thus far. It gets a little sluggish if I have too many applications running at once, however. Still, the graphics are wonderful, as is the sound quality. The camera is good (for what it is.) I've not truly tested the battery life, though I suspect it will be superb. It is light and stays cool... something the Lattitude that I'd been using didn't do.

I noticed a removeable SD card. Is that considered the HD storage, or is it removeable storage?

I have so many questions and would appreciate the expertise you all have.

Many thanks.
Hope

Also, for optical storage could I purchase ANY external usb DVD-RW or must I purchase the drive designed for this machine?

Hey people…!
After configure the overclok in my 1101ha, incresing 30%, where can I see the new speed of the Processor? Looking in BIOS and in Windows system information, I can see the same speed before (1,33Mhz). Should I see something great than 1.33Mhhz?
Does anyone do that and see diferent processor speed?
I don't know if the overclok is working or not...

Thanks,
Leandro

Hi there,

I have now this machine for 4 days and i must say that the speed is ok. The netbook is very low noice and the display 1366x768 is super. That's why i bought this netbook. In the bios you can overclock the system very easy (5%) and the dispay is great. Now i have to see what the battery do ;-)
I am working with Win XP on this one.

Asus is a reliable brand of notebooks and laptops. Their latest model is attractive in terms of speed and portablity.

BTW, congrats for being one of the finalist on the Phil Blog Awards - tech category. Wish you the best...
