ASUS Eee PC 1000HA to Rival Acer Aspire One
I really am excited for the ASUS Eee PC 1000HA. Know why? Because it is set to take on the Acer Aspire One. According to Punch Jump,
The new Asus Eee PC 1000HA will include a 1.6 Ghz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive, Windows XP and a 10-inch LCD for $429.99.
Retailer Amazon.com this month began taking pre-orders for a Ebony SKU and White SKU.
By comparison, the Acer Aspire One includes a 8.9-inch screen, 1.6 Ghz Atom CPU, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive, 6-cell battery and Windows XP for $399.99.
It is sold in Blue color and White color SKUs.
The Aspire One currently ranks as the No. 1 best-selling notebook at Amazon.com, followed by the Asus Eee PC 1000H at No. 2.
Acer also offers a Linux-equipped model for $329.99.
Dell Inc. in Sept. entered the netbook market with the the Dell Inspiron Mini 9. A Linux-based model starts at $349.
Personally, I’m thinking of getting the 1000HA to replace my 701.
Which will be the better netbook, the Eee or the Aspire One? What do you think?

I love your question, cause that’s where I am. I’m trying to find a buyer for my 701 (I’ve reduced the price down to $225 and it’s still not sold) and want to buy a 9″ or 10″ system. So to stick with Asus, or go to Aspire one or Mini9. Hmmm…

I’m wondering why you wouldn’t spend the extra $50 and get the reduced price 1000h. It’s got then-wireless which the HA lacks, and it appears to now include a 180GB HDD.. plus the price just got hacked from $550~ for $450-470 depending on the website. I was hemming and hawing about getting the 1000h before, but there’s not reason not to now. Maybe it’s a bit more expensive than the Aspire… but I’ve had terrible luck with Acers. Almost as bad as Gateways in my opinion. ASUS seems to have a really solid reputation.. they’re like the Hondas of the computer world.

The EEE PC 1000H is a LOT better than the Aspire One. I bought an Aspire One and took it back after 2 days and got the 1000H instead. Wireless would just stop working after 2 web pages on the Aspire One. And that shiny screen on the Acer, ugh!
My opinion, go for the 1000H and don’t even give the Aspire One a second look.

I looked at the Acer and was surprised at the noise from the unit, probably the fan. I thought it might have been the particular unit, but found they all were loud. After a lot of comparing the opinions and specs on the internet and decided on the Asus 1000HA (no bluetooth)at $429.00.
I almost couldn’t wait for the unit to arrive, and I was not dissappointed! What a pleasant experience it was to find the product surpassed the hype. This is one great little package! XP is great for me and the keyboard is really easy to use. Speed for most jobs is more than adequate and the connection speed to the internet is fast. It seems to me that the Dell, Acer, Wind et all, are shooting to surpass the Asus line. Amazon sells more Acer units, but I believe its because people don’t have the opportunity to hear the thing run and don’t see the size difference in the screens.
ASUS RULES!

Thanks for the comments about the Acer sound and bright glossy screen. The comparison to the ASUS 1000H/HA was very helpful. I had narrowed down my search to one of the two. The extra pound of weight for the ASUS is a negative. But it will also upgrade to 2Gb RAM without voiding the warranty (2Gb needed to overcome lock-ups and freezes if doing intensive work per other user comments at other sites). The Aspire can be upgraded to 1.5Gb max but voids the warranty and supposedly you have to take the machine apart to do it. Considering price is the same for the ASUS 100HA and the Aspire, the ASUS seems right for me.

Get the Asus 1000H. I have one. I also have the Acer Aspire One. And the original “netbook”– Asus EEE 701.

It seems the Asus is the winner rather than the acer aspire one, I will go for the asus 1000HA, no need for the extra $ 50.00 with the model H.

I have to go with the 1000HA, especially since I just purchased mine for $349.00 (shipping included in that price). Can’t beat that.

Bought the Acer Aspire one and was terribly dissappointed with it. I found it to be very slow, and it forever to boot up and shut down…
I also hated the right and left click buttons’ location, finding them very difficult to use. About the only thing I ended up liking about it was the size.
After using my wife’s new ASUS 1000HA, I find it to be a superior machine, very fast, and much more ergonomically pleasing. So I gave my Acer to my sister and bought an ASUS for myself…
Wish I had bought it first.
