So Asus comes out with a new Eee netbook that not only looks gorgeous, but has at least two improvements that I am loving. It has an improved keyboard that makes it easy to type on it for extended periods. It also has a 6-cell battery (E is for extended) that Asus claims that will provide you with as much as 8.7 hours battery life.

Liliputing has found the newest Eee product: a low power home media server.
It sports a 1.6GTHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 512MB flash ROM which probably holds the Linux-based operating system, and up to 4TB of storage thanks to 2 HDD bays.
The D200 supports 6 channel HD audio, has a DVI output, and serves as an 802.11n router. It also has a slot-loading DVD-RW drive, and even has a 3.5″ LCD touchscreen on the front which should allow you to access your media without a keyboard and without even flipping on a monitor.
One of the best, yet unfortunately named Netbook Linux-based OSs, Easy Peasy, is now available for download.
Based on Ubuntu 8.10, Easy Peasy contains all drivers needed to make various netbook brands working out of the box. It’s amazing how far netbooks have gone since eeeXubuntu.
Who has tried Easy Peasy?

Finally the touchscreen Eee PC lives! The Eee PC T91 will have an 8.9 inch touchscreen display and will be powered by an Intel Atom Z520 processor. It will only be 2lbs (less than 1kg) light and 1-inch in thickness.
So Google Android now runs on Netbooks, eh? Would Android be successful where Linux failed? Let’s wait and see.
This awesome Eee 1000H mod is done by one Netbook News.de reader to keep his netbook fingerprint and smudge free.

Liliputing has uncovered a few photos of the upcoming S121, which seems to be a bigger version of the S101. It doesn’t seem to be included in the Eee line, which I find curious.
If it’s anything like the S101, I’m guessing this notebook will be both thin and light. Hopefully the 12.1 inch screen will bring a higher resolution. 1280 x 800 pixels would be nice.

EeeUser has reported that some Eee 1000H screens crack under “low stress situations”.
The second user added to the thread this past week, reporting a similar incident and posting a picture. Apparently, it worked fine the night before, but the next morning was already cracked when opened. The crack is not seen on the outside- there is no damage to the front of the screen or the back of the lid.
Has anyone else out there had any incidents like this, or do you think they are just incidental incidents?
And it’s a new year folks! How was 2008, and are you planning to purchase a new Eee for the new year?
What are your netbook plans for this year, people, I’d love to hear them.
