Windows Touch Remix is a program launcher for netbooks and laptops running Windows. It’s mean to mimic the original simple mode interfaces of the original Xandros Linux of the old Eee PC 701s.
It still is in the very early phases of development, so be aware of bugs. Requires .NET 3.5
Taipei Times report that Asus may not release new netbook models until the 2nd quarter of 2009 due to an inventory problem.
On Jan. 8, the company issued an emergency statement, saying it would revise downward its fourth-quarter shipment forecasts across all product lines because of lower market demand. It also cut its gross and operating margin outlooks in the three months ending Dec. 31.
Well, this is disheartening. We don’t want to see the innovator in netbooks give up their netbook line.

Jolicould OS has unveiled a new interface. I don’t care much about the busy background image, but it’s looking real good so far. Originally sporting an Ubuntu Netbook remix interface, the new and improved one looks sleek. It does borrow a few ideas from Xandros Easy Mode, Ubuntu Netbook Remix, and Linpus Linux Lite, but who cares? The sleeker the netbook-designed interfaces are, the better it is for all of us netbook lovers.

CrunchBang Linux has released a version for the Asus Eee, called the CrunchEee. According to Liliputing:
The OS comes preloaded with Firefox, VLC, and not much else. If you want OpenOffice.org, or even lighter weight office apps like Abiword and Gnumeric, you’ll have to install them yourself. But this means that CrunchEee is very light on your hard drive, SSD, RAM, and other system resources.
Check out CrunchEee here.
From Liliputing:
Asus has released BIOS updates for at least two Eee PC models including the Eee PC 1000H and Eee PC 1002HA. There’s no solid information explaining what’s new in the latest BIOS versions, but some members of the EeeUser forums say their computers seem to boot a few seconds faster after updating the Eee PC 1000H BIOS.
The BIOS update links below:
Apparently, Asus has big dreams for the Eee brand. Asus’s phones are one of the best in the market, and they want the Eee brand to go that path as well.
According to the Chinese Economic Daily News, the Eee Phone will be a low-cost mobile device in tune with the company’s strategy in developing affordable quality products. This is Asus’ way of helping out consumers who are severaly affected by the ongoing economic crisis worldwide.
I wonder how the Eee phone will turn out. No specs nor mock-ups as of yet.

Asus has revealed its newest Eee product: the Eee wireless keyboard. Echoing Mac-like designs, it’s also a “fully functional PC” with a secondary touchscreen. It connects to your TV with a wireless HDMI connection. In other words, it can turn your HDTV into a computer monitor, allowing you to turn any TV in your house into a multimedia PC.
